Mancala Games
The
ancient game of mancala has been played throughout Africa
and Asia for centuries. In its simplest form players
make hollows in the ground and use pebbles or stones
to play out the game. (To find rules and play strategies
search for mancala on the net).
We have taken this concept to the
other extreme producing games of top quality. Each set
is made from a decorative or exotic timber. The dished
bowls are cut into the raw wood, coloured and cut back
to produce the sharp profiles. Once the furniture has
been fitted all surfaces are sealed and waxed to a lustre
finish. We have used a variety of dried seeds for our
counters. The opened game shown is made from iroko,
an African hardwood, with Italian cannellini beans.
Variation on the theme can be made
to order, please contact us and we'll provide a quotation.
